AUBURN SUBURBAN BASEBALL & SOFTBALL Groundbreaking of NEW Facility
AUBURN, ME – Auburn Suburban Baseball & Softball (ASBS)has begun development on a new facility located on the corner of Hotel & Stevens Mills Roads in Auburn. The organization plans to make this the exclusive home for all ASBS games, events & activities. The complex will be composed of four (4) fields to support youth development of both baseball and softball. The complex will also house a multi-purpose turf surface.
The current facility, located down the road, will continue to operate during development of the new complex. ASBS is pleased to be working with the City of Auburn & the Maine National Guard to help facilitate the project and assist in the transition.
ASBS President, Travis Bashaw, says, “This represents a unique opportunity our league could not pass up. The timing and collaboration with our community partners demonstrates the spirit of community growth to support youth programs and economic development. This is an important step that will allow us to continue to service our families, our city and our league.”
ASBS plans to continue to work with its sponsor base, local businesses, individuals, and community partners to help make this project a reality.
“This is a terrific moment for the City of Auburn,” says Marc Gosselin, Executive Director of Community Partnerships and Sport Tourism. “It demonstrates the cohesiveness of our community by bringing together three entities (the city of Auburn, ASBS, and the Maine Army National Guard) to expand our sport and recreation infrastructure. We couldn’t be more pleased to play a role in building a community of sport and recreation”.
Auburn Suburban Baseball & Softball is a non-profit youth sports organization serving Auburn, Maine. Nationally, the league is chartered with Cal Ripken Baseball affording the ability to expand ASBS scope to local, state, and national level play. This partnership has allowed ASBS to expand our reach, serve more children and continue to foster development at all ages and ability levels. ASBS currently supports roughly 500 boys & girls ranging in age from 4-16 years. With nearly 50 teams in our 2019 season, they were able to maximize playing time and development for each child and each team. ASBS supports their own regular season, in house playoffs for several leagues and participation in Regional and State All Star Tournaments.
